About

This is Invisible Playground. We make site-specific games. We like games with a view onto the outside world better than games that you can escape to. We design playful systems that remix the connections between people, the environments they inhabit, and the technology they use. We love it when games are fun and make us happy together, in this world. But we’re also interested in things like lonelyness, boredom, greed and betrayal.

Invisible Playground are Jennifer Aksu, Viktor Bedö, Daniel Boy, Josa Gerhard, Anna Hentschel, Christiane Hütter and Sebastian Quack

We realise projects at different scales – from lightweight design workshops and playtesting events to elaborate transmedia productions.

Started in 2009 by Sebastian Quack, Invisible Playground works as a collective of game designers, artists, theater makers, musicians and academics sharing a passion for using cities as platfoms for play. We like to work with cultural institutions like Theaters, Art Spaces and Festivals. We also manage independant projects.

Institutions and companies we’ve worked with: A MAZE, Artitude, Centraltheater Leipzig, Come Out & Play Festival, gameslab (University of Applied Sciences Berlin), HAU Theater, .HBC, Hide & Seek London, interfiction Kassel, K&K Kulturmanagement und Kommunikation, Kunstraum Kreuzberg, Netzwerk Neue Musik, PLACCC Budapest, University of the Arts Berlin, Victoria & Albert Museum London, West Germany, Wiener Festwochen/Into The City

Josa Gerhard and Sebastian Quack are currently fellows at the Berlin University of the Arts – Graduate School for the Arts and Sciences.
